Plans for 2019

I’m a terrible planner. There I’ve said it! I like to plan ahead, but at the same time I’m all over the place. That’s why I’m making commitments to myself this year rather than trying to set things in stone. These commitments are more likely to come true than everything else I would plan.

What are these commitment? I’m going to share them with you so that you can hold me accountable — but please don’t be too strict because you know… life 🙂

Learn Spanish

Trinidad
I love languages, because I love to eavesdrop on people when they’re having conversations. The more languages the easier that becomes. I already speak Dutch, English & German. I used to be able to say I speak French but I accidentally unlearned it after 6 years of rigorous lessons. This year my goal is to add another language to my repetoire. Spanish.

Havana - Old Timer

I love travelling through Spanish speaking countries, and studying Spanish in Buenos Aires has been on my bucket list for ages. I actually left the Netherlands after finishing uni to study Spanish there but I got stuck in my beloved Edinburgh. That’s a story for another time though. I don’t know if Buenos Aires will happen next year, but I’d definitely like to bring my Spanish to level A1. I’m using Duolingo for that (a free app) and I have registered for courses from February onwards.

Up the Travel Blog Game

This year I’m going to up the ante when it comes to my blog. I have been working on my blog for three years, and I’d like to professionalise it a bit (more). For that reason I’m going to be completing the Superstar Blogging course this year.

Changes on my Blog
If you follow me, you might know that I only write about my trips which I (try to) do every week. That’s going to change, I will mix things up a bit in terms of content.

First of all, I’m going to add a Monthly Wrap Up post. I get inspired every day by posts of other bloggers and photos on Instagram, I’d like to share my thoughts with you. The monthly post will also be a good outlet for my second passion, namely books. It will enable me to share which books I read and loved more frequently. So, the wrap-ups will be a mixed bag of travel & books & miscellaneous . Let me know if you have any requests!

Secondly, I’m going to translate my blog. I still love writing in English, but I would also like to share my passion & blogs with Dutch speakers.

You might see more changes on the blog based on the blogging course I’m taking. For example, I’m thinking of updating my lay out, creating a logo and finally setting up mail updates.

Get Fit

Colca Canyon
This one I dislike the most, but it has to happen in order for me to actually think of completing my “bucket list”. I need to get in shape. I need to treat my body better,  so I’m going to go to a gym. I would also like to hike more. As you might have seen in my post about the hiking marathon, I need to build up my stamina and muscles in order to enjoy long hikes.

Travel 2019

Those are my actual goals. I’m not setting travel goals for myself this year. However, this is a travel blog after all, which means I love about travelling, so let’s talk about travel plans for 2019 a bit.

I have trips planned to Belgrade, Israel & Trento in Italy. It’s very likely I’ll also be going to Ibiza this year. That’s all I can say about my plans.

There will be more trips of course, but I can’t say for sure where I want to go. I have thoughts though:
I’d like to go to Vietnam, because I skipped that country years ago when I went to South East Asia with friends, or Africa because it’s been years since I even visited that continent. I would also like to visit Argentina & Chile. Georgia is still high on my list, as is the Balkan region in Europe. For some reason, I’d also really like to visit Chicago. As you can see, I still have to deliberate with myself what I’m going to do this year, but I’m looking forward to it. I have the feeling this will be a great year!

30 uur is gemiddeld 1 niveau hoger

    1. Qua vertalen ben ik van plan om te beginnen bij het einde zeg maar 🙂 dan ga ik met terugwerkende kracht oude artikels vertalen, wellicht niet allemaal. Even kijken hoe het loopt!

  2. These are some great plans! I to would like to get healthier and travel some more, I booked a trip to Krakow the other day but thats not until 2020! When you go to Ibiza, if you haven’t already been before you should definitely try out there Hippy Market in Es Canar, great place!

    1. Thanks for the tip, Michelle! I haven’t been before so I’ll definitely check out the market in Ibiza. Krakow is also on my list, I think it’ll be a beautiful city to visit! 🙂
